THE
OAK RIDGE
QUARTET
Talk
about some major changes! This group seemed to
change members about as often as some people change
socks. The old Oak Ridge Quartet was formed in
1958 and consisted of Smitty Gatlin (tenor), Ron Page
(baritone), "Little" Willie Wynn (first tenor),
Herman Harper (bass), and Tommy Fairchild (piano). There
were other members over the years, including William
Golden, Gary McSpadden, Duane Allen, and "Big"
Jim Hamill (who was also with the Rebels and the Kingsmen).
The Oak Ridge Quartet was one of the most popular
Southern Gospel quartets in its day and still enjoyable
to hear.
